Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare.
- Work instructions, including plans, specifications, environmental and quality requirements, and operational details, are obtained, confirmed with relevant personnel, and applied to planning.
- Health and safety requirements are identified and applied to planning.
- Plant, tools and equipment are selected to carry out tasks according to job requirements, checked for serviceability, and any faults are rectified or reported prior to starting work.
- Apply safe work practices.
- Relevant authorities are contacted to identify type and location of electrical sources, underground or overhead services, and assets.
- Plant is positioned according to safe work method statement (SWMS).
- Plant operation procedures are followed to comply with SWMS.
- Work is conducted in or around the electrical source, service or asset according to SWMS.
- On completion of work, personnel, plant and equipment are retracted from powered area following SWMS.
- Work area is cleared and materials disposed of, reused or recycled according to legislation, regulations, codes of practice and job specifications.
- Plant, tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored according to manufacturer recommendations and standard work practices.
- Work completion procedures are followed and relevant personnel are notified that work is finished.
